A fault code is the boiler telling you what it saw before it stopped. Most of the codes Coventry households read off a display come down to two things. Either the boiler could not light, or the water pressure in the system is too low.

Find your brand below. Each page explains the code in plain English, what you can safely check yourself, and when it needs an engineer. Code meanings can differ between model generations, so check the manual that came with your boiler as well.

Coventry has a lot of rented homes, from student houses in Earlsdon and Canley to family homes in Tile Hill and Wood End. In a rented home, the first step is to tell the landlord or letting agent what the display says. A photo of the code makes that message easy to send.

What's involved

Our Boiler Fault Codes in Coventry

Worcester Bosch

EA / EA 227: no flame detected and CE 207: low water pressure. These are the two codes behind most Worcester calls in Coventry.

Ideal

F2: loss of flame and F1: low water pressure. Both appear on the Logic and Vogue ranges.

Baxi

E133: ignition failure and E119: low water pressure. Both appear on current Baxi combis.

Vaillant

F28: failed to light and F22: low water pressure. Both appear on the ecoTEC range.

What to send us

A photo of the display, a photo of the boiler label inside the door, and your postcode. Add what you were doing when it stopped. That narrows the fault before anyone travels.

Boiler Fault Codes questions

Is a fault code dangerous?

The code itself means the boiler has stopped safely because it detected a problem. Smell gas? Leave the house, do not use switches, and call the National Gas Emergency line on 0800 111 999. A fault code is never a gas leak, but a smell always is.

Can I just reset it?

Once, yes. The reset button is there for that. If the same code comes back, stop resetting it. Repeated resets can turn a small fault into a bigger one.

My code is not listed here.

Write it down exactly as shown, check the manual, and send it with a photo of the display. The code narrows the fault to a part before anyone arrives.

How long does a fault code repair take?

Most are fixed on one visit, usually within an hour or two. It depends on whether the part is on the van. A rare part can mean a second visit.

What decides the cost of the repair?

The part, the time to reach it, and how old the boiler is. The code points to the likely part, so the quote is for a known job rather than a guess.
